Why Your AI Writing Still Sounds Fake (And How to Fix It)
AI didn’t break your writing. It exposed your voice.
Your AI writing sounds fake for one reason…
You’re letting the machine lead, and it doesn’t know who the hell you are.
Every week, my inbox fills with the same slop:
Smart founder.
Sharp ideas.
Savvy product.
…and then the writing hits my eyes.
Not to mention LinkedIn (especially DMs), vanilla newsletters…
AI slop writing is everywhere.
It reads like a TSA kiosk trying to give a TED talk.
…and look, I get it.
Everyone’s using AI.
However, that’s not an excuse.
AI isn’t ruining your writing, it’s revealing you’ve never built a voice worth stealing.
That’s the real threat.
Because the moment your reader smells “robot,” they’re gone.
Not because AI is bad…
…but because AI exposes writers who are still hiding.
The Real Problem Isn’t AI — It’s You Playing Small
Your audience isn’t rejecting AI.
They’re rejecting safety.
AI writing will always default to safe copy.
Safe writing.
Smooth writing.
“Professional” writing.
Shameful writing.
Yeah, I said it.
You sand down the edges.
You soften the hit.
You dilute the truth.
AI just makes it obvious.
If that stings…good.
That means you’re awake.
Before we fix your writing, you need to understand why AI defaults to sounding like a corporate intern who’s terrified of being fired.
The 3 Human Flags (What AI Still Can’t Fake)
If you want to sound human, you need to hit all three:
1. Rhythm
Humans speed up, stop, swerve, contradict themselves.
AI writes like it’s paid by the comma.
Everyone’s unique writing style follows a verbal cadence.
2. Risk
Humans reveal something real…something they’ve experienced in the world.
AI avoids anything emotional, opinionated, or dangerous.
Good writing is risk.
3. Revelation
Humans show you what they believe and what it costs them.
AI gives you information, not identity.
AI doesn’t have a soul. You do…
Miss any of the three, and your writing stinks.
AI Weakness
1. Rhythm
AI writes like it learned cadence from a metronome.
Humans zig.
AI zags in perfect 4/4 time.
Predictable rhythm = predictable message.
Your audience won’t trust a mind that never breaks a pattern.
2. Safety
AI hates specificity.
Hates point-of-view.
Hates anything sharp enough to cut.
But great writing is a blade.
Safety is death on the page.
3. Templates
AI recycles:
Corporate transitions
Stock metaphors
Perfect paragraphs
“It’s important to note…”
Emotional ugh
Good writers break patterns.
AI creates them.
So how do you fix it?
You force the machine to follow you, not the other way around.
Enter the Humanizer: Your New Operating System
This isn’t about style.
This is about identity.
AI will follow any voice you’ve built, which means if your writing is weak, AI scales the weakness.
If your voice is sharp, AI becomes nitrous.
Here’s the rewrite prompt I use every day for Finding Peak, LinkedIn, scripts, articles… hell, even emails when I need to sound like a savage professional:
THE HUMANIZER PROMPT
Steal this.
Use it.
Live by it.
But let me prove it works.
AI vs. Human (Brutal Example Bank)
You asked for real examples.
…and you’re getting them.
1. Corporate Drone
AI: “Achieving meaningful progress often requires a strategic approach.”
Human: “Progress isn’t complicated. Decide what matters, cut the excuses, move.”
2. Overpolished Nonsense
AI: “Failure is a valuable learning opportunity.”
Human: “Failure is tuition. Pay it. Learn. Move on.”
3. Jargon Spiral
AI: “Leaders must cultivate a dynamic operational environment.”
Human: “If you want your team to think, give them room to breathe.”
4. Template Transition
AI: “Furthermore, the data indicates…”
Human: “The data’s clear: the people who show up win.”
5. Soft Model Voice
AI: “Our mindset shapes our lives.”
Human: “Your life follows your mindset. Tighten one and the other straightens.”
6. Predictable Cadence
AI: “Success is not a destination…”
Human: “Success isn’t a finish line. It’s a grind. Show up or get left behind.”
7. Fake Philosophical
AI: “We must embrace discomfort to grow.”
Human: “Growth hurts. That’s the cost of upgrading who you are.”
8. Fake Emotional
AI: “Uncertainty shapes our identity.”
Human: “Uncertainty has teeth. Let it bite you and you learn who you are.”
These aren’t just better sentences.
They’re identity statements.
…and that’s the part AI can’t fake.
Because when you write boldly, you’re not just improving your writing.
You’re confronting your shame.
You’re crossing the fear threshold.
You’re telling the truth.
